We're back! This is our new class of first graders. Aren't they cute? All of them seem happy to be back at school to begin a new school year. They posed for this picture just after our "hike" around the school to launch our schoolwide camping theme. Sparks of excitement are flying as we build a fire for learning!

Green is Great
Guess who wore the most green items on Saint Patrick's Day? We learned all about Ireland in March. Since Ireland makes us think of potatoes, we tasted many kinds of foods made with potatoes. Everyone brought something made from potatoes to share. We had potato salad, sweet potato fries, potato bread, scalloped potatoes, hash brown potatoes, and potato chips to name a few. Can't wait for you to see our potato people on the next post!

February is a Lovely Month
February is my absolute favorite month at school. There are so many engaging themes to study this month. Take a peek at the shadows I traced of my students. Or are they presidential silhouettes? It looks like one has whiskers! Could it be the groundhog? It's hard to believe that we have been in school for almost 100 days.

Global Holidays
Learning about holiday celebrations around the world is so interesting! So far, we have learned about Christmas in The United States, Mexico, England and Africa. In Mexico, Las Posadas takes place during the nine days before Christmas. We learned that poinsettias are grown in Mexico and are used for decoration during the holiday season. Assembling virtual poinsettias on the ActivBoard was really fun!
